This class is a series, held on Tuesdays, May 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th at 10:00am - 12:00pm . Class Duration : 2 hours each part, 4 parts Age Requirements : Adult with a completed Sewing Lab Waiver Required Skills : Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. Materials Fee : None Out of District Fee : $10 (includes class and materials fees) Required Materials : Students will need the following materials to complete the project: Pattern: Log Cabin Hexagon Potholder Free Sewing Pattern Recommended Fabrics: Cotton Blends, Cotton Shirting, Cotton Lawn, Challis, Polished Cotton. Designed for medium-weight woven fabrics. scraps of fabric at least 3" wide by 5" long in many different patterns (Perfect fat quarter project!) a piece of Insul-Bright insulated batting at least 9β x 10β a scrap of cotton quilt batting at least 9β x 10β a piece of fabric at least 9β x 10β for the back a scrap of ribbon about 6β long Note : Machine sewing skills are necessary to be successful in this class. Level Description Beginner Someone has used a sewing machine before but may need aid on threading the machine and may need additional practice keeping an even seam allowance. Confident Beginner Someone who can sew straight and curved seams while keeping a consistent seam allowance, can thread a standard machine and wind a bobbin, has a basic understanding of different fabric types and has completed several projects. Intermediate Someone who is comfortable with working and threading sewing machines, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of fabric types and interfacing, and has experience with using a variety of tools, notions, and presser feet. Advanced Someone who is comfortable with working and threading both sewing machines and sergers, sewing patterns with markings and notations, has an understanding of both woven and knit fabric types and interfacing, and has experience using a wide variety of tools, notions, and presser feet.
