Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. The newly-created Brighton chapter is a place for focused writing time and community. All writers are welcome, whether you’re working on poetry, fiction, your thesis, or even that email you’ve been meaning to finish. Schedule: 6:15-6:30 – Meet at the tables on the middle level against the big windows, which is the adult fiction floor. Feel free to bring your laptop, tablet, or notebooks. Chat with the host and other attendees. 6:30-6:40 – Briefly introduce yourself and your writing project, if you’d like to share. 6:40-7:40 – We will set a timer and engage in an hour of focused writing time. 7:40-7:50 – After the timer goes off, those who wish to do so will have a chance to share successes and challenges. Did you finish a chapter? Hit your word-count? Finally resolve that tricky plot-hole? Let us celebrate with you! 8:00 – Library closes for the evening. Please note that this event does not involve critiques or readings. No one will make you share your writing. Sessions at the Brighton Branch are led by a local community member who has received organizer training from Shut Up & Write! No registration is required. Accessibility Notice : We strive to make our events accessible. To request a disability accommodation and/or language services, contact the department listed in the "Contact Info" pane on the right, or call the Brighton Branch at 617-782-6032. Please allow at least two weeks to arrange accommodation.
