Understanding Misinformation Online with NPower

In this workshop, we will talk about what misinformation is and how it spreads online. You'll learn how to spot unreliable information, check sources, and think critically about what you see on social media, websites, and videos. We'll also discuss how misinformation can affect decision-making and share tools to help you verify information before sharing it. About the presenter: The NPower Community Help Desk is a community-based technology support program launched by NPower to provide free technical support, digital literacy training, and career-building opportunities. It serves as both a resource for the public and a hands-on training ground for early-career IT professionals. What We Do: Free Tech Support: Assistance with devices, software, and connectivity issues — available in person, over the phone, or by text. Digital Literacy Workshops: Covering topics like computer basics, email setup, online safety, productivity tools, and even emerging technology like AI. Technical Tools and Applications Workshops: Topics include Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and more. Customized Content: Resources and sessions designed around the needs of community partners and nonprofits. Homework Help (K–12): Dedicated sessions where students can receive support in all subjects. Community Outreach: Building partnerships with libraries, schools, nonprofits, and local organizations to expand access.
